Just a mention of the impact of virus on club.

My local club "The levellers" have made some changes due to the present virus.
We have stopped using the church hall. We have falling numbers and the church  imposed various cleaning restrictions etc.
We have sold off the club property to members. This consisted of cloths, figures and scenery.

A big change for the club, but maybe the club will prosper?
How is your club doing?

Hopefully like the Phoenix we will rise from the ashes when we start again at the local gaming shop
Boss Minis in Weymouth

I like Boss Miniatures, friendly owner. As I remember it's a small shop, how many members would you get in there?

Dave

Hi Dave, Scott has moved  to a larger shop and is hoping to have 4 or 5 tables when restrictions are lifted.
I have asked for two tables one Thursday night per month for our exclusive club.

That's great news for all concerned, will they be running it on a similar way to entoyment.

Sounds like your booked in for Thursday night games Dave!!

Hope it all works out for the Levellers Martin.

When circumstances change I will be going back to the local clubs.  Will be interesting to see how membership number are going.

The problem will be which to go to and what to play!!!

Interesting times.

On one hand it's sad that a club has to give up its permanent residence. On the other, the shop venue means that hire fees go back into the wider hobby, and there's maybe a chance to drag in more members who like what they see?

Best of luck to The Levellers in this new chapter of the club's existence.

The club has served us well and many excellent battles were refought in the Westham Church Hall. The move to Boss Minis is a positive step and will open up our historical gaming a much wider group of players. Well done to Martin and Stewart for moving us forward.

I hadn't heard of Boss Minis before, but am now better educated. Conveniently situated for all at PP HQ too, I see!

The unfortunate thing for me is the move to a Thursday evening, I could only now go to a club night if my Holidays and the Thursday evening are the same, but then it's not like I was down there regularly anyway.... But we do have Entoyment that we can and will use eventually on a weekend days. I went down there yesterday most of the "usual" faces were down there, which is good news, spent more money than I have which is bad news; even one popped in before he went to his "2nd Jab" which is nice to see.
So hopefully the 2nd half of the year we can ease ourselves back into a more near normal routine ? Even with the very real threat of another wave of the virus coming back, but hopefully not so devastating to us all ? We have lost enough good people already !

Unfortunately for the Levellers but good news for Boss minis, Before the move to bigger shop,

Saturday nights were full with wargames and boxed games.
Friday nights Scott runs his own wargames type club.
So to guarantee tables we were left with Thursday nights.

At the moment the  games room is full of stock as the shop has been closed most of last year.

For those close enough to get there, there is always Wessex War-games Society (blows own trumpet). We meet at Colbury Memorial Hall in Ashurst, Hampshire. This is close to Totton. For reference it is about 5 mils west of central Southampton.
We meet every other Saturday once we get clearance to re-open from the hall administrators. Meetings are either 1000 til 1800 or 1300 to 1800. As far as games most things go. Keep an eye on our web site for the re-opening date. Please bear in mind that our website is a bit like an abandoned building site since Covid struck, but I am sure it will spring back into life soon.

Sounds like you need to get posting and getting the site cleaned up then John.

I would think that like the Levellers a number of other clubs in the region will be rethinking their requirements.

Looks like Martin will need to revise his local clubs page for the Levellers and the other clubs listed!!

Leman (Andy)

Currently running the one man Delfzijl club in the living room - troops and painting in the den (bedroom 3). My previous club in Liverpool is still closed but could be opening later this month. My mates are still discussing whether they will do more than 1 on 1 games or wear masks, which strikes me as a bit odd as they have all been vaccinated now and play at a time of day when no one else is there, but then I don't know anyone who's died of it and only two other people than me who have actually had it.

Sean Clark

Best of luck to the Levellers in their new incarnation.

I am the sole member of the Northern branch of the Weymouth Levellers. I may need to travel down a day earlier to get to club nights in the future.
