Wars of the Roses postage stamps

The Royal Mail is issuing a set of WOTR stamps (and postcards, which could be good for pictorial references, although I have a feeling I've seen some of this art before...) next month:

There seems to be a little controversy over one date and a spelling:

but the look like a mighty fine set of stamps to me.

They are lovely cards.
I shall get them and ask Julie to put them into a frame for my birthday.
Not too bothered about the error.
I expect at the time any  "by mouth" battle report was much more inaccurate than these cards.

"I shot 12 men with just 4 arrows. Most of the battle happened near me. I think I killed at least one noble, probably the king. The battle was mainly won by the NCOs; those leaders know nothing...."

Well spotted, Andy, and a good point.

they are indeed, and a real inspiration in the Osprey books dealing with the period.

My WOTR postcards have arrived. I'd have preferred a little more image and a little less "frame", but they look nice and can serve as handy references.

I think they do that so that if you decide to frame them individually you will lose nothing of the picture.

I think the Royal Mail should be applauded for producing these stamps. It's great to see the public being introduced to such a fascinating and important period. Hopefully, the Royal Mail won't be put off doing something similar in future .

Totally agree. There must be loads more historical themes they could pursue too.

If you check the catalogue I think you will find a lot of historical subjects have been produced since the GPO started special stamps and First Day Covers.
