OK, another bit I would like feedback on.  My gun crews and machine gunners are British. Have done one base a minor adaption. What do you guys think. I have only painted heads/faces as a test.

All good Derek.
Are the guns being stuck on after paint?

martin :)

Moggy

Yes Martin. I find it far easier doing it that way. Like with the Cavalry bases its just too cluttered to get onto the inner faces.

In case anyone is wondering the conversion was done using White-tack. I know sounds like it would be too soft but its supprising how hard and durable it can be once there is a couple of coats of paint on it.

Derek that's a great crocheted dragoon do they come in other colours?

Moggy

I had better ask the wife. She chrotchetedededed it, along with many other strange critters.

This is what the latest is. not quite finished but getting there.

Moggy

Yes, its a deflated octopus

Moggy

Comming along. Working on Guns and MG's now.  The white tack moulded around the British hats seems to work fine.

The Octopus has now been inflated (stuffed)

Leslie BT

Derek, the octopus is great, please congratulate your wife it looks amazing.

The MG team looks all at sea!!

Leman (Andy)

Really like the way you have fashioned those Arab headresses. I assume the British in Arab dress from the Sudan range could be used as officers of Arab troops in WWI Middle East.

Hi Andy

Just got fed up trying to find the figures in the right uniforms with an arab headress. Even a lot of the Arab dress figures look more like afghans than arabs. I got the distinct impression this may be deliberate to save on moulds.

These ones are standard British troops in peaked caps with the addition of a very small amount of simple white-tack. I find this easy to mould, shape, trim and add an extra bit when needed. Once painted it is reasonably solid and fixed, especially if varnished as well.

Need to give the infantry a dunk or two and they will be done so will get massed piccies done then.

Derek if you can manage to make that from white stuff, green stuff is very similar.

I have worked in offices far too long!

I just enjoy working with blue-tac and white tac. Prefer the white, I find it more maleable. Its very cheep (well if we were working in the office and I can get the stationary store key then free) even if not I can buy a large pack for £1 in most shops. In addition it is mess free, doesn't go "off" or dry out and can even be re-used. Also ideal for holding figures onto painting bases.

Just  based the last figures for the army. A pack of Bedouin infantry (3 units with a few additions) and a unit of bedouin cavalry from Blue Moon. Now they do look the part of proper Arabs. Only issue with them was the rifles - a bit too "muskety", but trim the last third off and they look a bit more modern.

Sand the bases this afternoon then time to break out the spray paint.
