Silly Question time:
British late war WW1 uniform colours ?
Can I have some suggestions please ?
I mainly use Vallejo colours, like most of us I feel ?
I know it's a "green" but Russian uniform green ? US field Drab ? Or something else ?
Also the webbing ? A Khaki Drill sort of colour ?
Many thanks
Miles

Camulogene

Vallejo 921 for uniform and 988 for webbing

I also went for English Uniform 70921 for the uniform and helmets (although a green may have been better for the latter, having just watched "1917"), but Dark Sand 70847 for the webbing and packs.

I then used a Dark Tone dip over the lot.

Miles it took me about 18 months to find a colour I was happy with. It was a fairly brown shade of Khaki, but I can't remember who made it. I suppose it also depends on whether you want your troops to look newly arrived at the front or battle hardened cynical vets. If the former then a greener khaki and blanco'd webbing (perhaps), if the latter then definitely a browner shade of khaki and dirty webbing.

I went with Vallejo English Uniform.  Vallejo buff for webbing and helmet covers, dry brushed with khaki.  Reflective Green for helmets without covers.  Putties I did English Uniform dry brushed with burnt umber,

I like MIG Khaki and MIG British Service Drab, washed with GW Sepia.

Good point re. helmets, now (it was a few years ago...) that a version with covers is available. I expect you'll be wanting to do some head swaps, Miles?

I also did some head swaps from the Early War high command set to use for Late War, and even managed to sculpt something that from a sufficient distance (and in poor light) might pass for gas mask cases for these senior chaps too.

I have not yet done gas mask cases (should be worn on the back, not front, I understand) for late war cavalry or their mounts (strapped to the muzzle) - one day!

Thank you all, on that. I think I might go with "Panzer Ace" British Tank crew with a combination of Dark sand and Khaki on the webbing.
It's something I ve got a bit of time to play with.
As well as doing British units for Sq Bashing I was going to use the most of the same bases for SCW.
Now basing a unit ?
3 figures for a regular base and 4 figures for a professional base ?
Miles

Colonel Kilgore

The current Square Bashing is 3 foot figures / base, regardless of quality.

You are of course free to do whatever you want!

Painted mine originally with Humbrol acrylic Khaki,
most recently switched to Vallejo English uniform.

Many thanks all.
But is it my imagination but the WW1 uniform and the interwar uniform always seems to have a "Green" tint to it ? Hence the Vallejo Panzer Ace colour of British Tank Uniform might be a slightly better colour ?
More like Dads Army type of uniform. As we all know after 1941 the colour was indeed a more Brown as the Vallejo English Uniform colour and other company's Khaki are leaning towards.
It was for this reason I first asked the question?
In that First World War paint set, and yes Life Colour do make so lovely paints, they have a Green and Brown Khaki in the box set.
