Hi Everyone

To distract myself from the long days nad nights of a late in life PhD I am re-energizing the old 1914 project.

I was looking at the PPig site and saw some tasty Zouaves. However, no HMG or gun crew to go with them. Any advice for some fill ins?

Thanks

Simon

If you don't mind your zouaves donning greatcoats, how about the Belgian hotchkiss team with the zouave head swap. They have the correct machine gun and they are wearing gaiters. There are of course  the early war French. Again crew is in greatcoat, but the officer is wearing correct gear for a zouave officer. In the Belgian crew he could be a NCO.

Hello
"Moroccan HMGs" (SCW 27) from the Spanish Civil War PP range will do perfectly for early WW1/spring 1915 French zouaves MG team, wearing the light garb called "bourgeron" ; just paint the shirt and trousers in an off-white shade, the putties dark-blue, and the fez madder-red (or blue-grey if you choose to show men wisely wearing the less conspicuous headgear cover usually used in the early part of the war).

Peter Pig SCW figures as Tirailleurs, Chasseurs or Zouaves MG crew from the Moroccan Division, French Army 1914 :

It works, to the eyes of consenting adults...  ::) :)

Thanks !
To enhance their French look, the shoulders straps should have been removed, and putty added to make their trousers a little more baggy, but nevertheless, on the tabletop they look right and do the job !  ;)
