For the Weymouth weekend this year, Stewart asked for people to 'sponsor' a game, i.e. to put a game on with everything included.

I am going to present the Somme. It will be played using Squarebashing with custom built terrain. I am using 4 old TSS 2'x2' tiles with trenches cut into them and suitably cratered as befits the period. I'm using a slightly deeper table to model some communication trenches behind the German frontline trench and also part of the British frontline trench. I'm going to try and make it look as visually appealing as possible. I then plan to pulverise the same board for next year to represent Passchendale.

I'll post some work in progress pictures. The trench is cut. I'm waiting on some balsa wood to line the walls of the trench. Should be good!

I'd love to see some pictures of the Trench Terrain (completed AND under construction if you took any)  :)

Messy! I have now deepened the trench and reinforced the sides. I'm waiting on some balsa from eBay to add the cladding.

Do you need any special castings Sean?

Sean Clark

Hi Martin,

I can discuss this next week but personally I would love a late war HQ set with maybe a runner/signaller type guy and/or a pigeon basket.

Looking good Sean, do you have enough figure for your game in November?

Sean Clark

Yep got plenty of figures. Not all painted though. I've now finished the  basic trench work on 1 board and have cut the trench  on the second  board. Craters and she'll holesbt64@gmail.com have also been dug.

It's a messy old business and Lisa is finding  bits of polystyrene  all over the house  😂
