Mexican Revolution is not my top priority at the moment.

I am doing German paras. Incidentally the German parachute system is appalling. The British one seems the best in WW2.

Anyway, how about a review of the films with Mexican  Revolution in them.
This is an opinion piece so let's enjoy that.

Viva Zapata with Marlon Brando.
Black and white. 1962?
Antony Quinn as Zapata's brother.
Historically very good indeed.
Marlon Brando. Handsome  chap.
In my opinion he does very little to make the Zapata character likeable.
He shows Zapata to be self absorbed and brooding. A bit too much me , me. me.
Maybe Zapata was like that ?

PS  Anyone who would like the DVD can have it from me and then maybe pass it on ?

Might be useful for research?! But don't let film watching intrude on your sculpting time 🙂

Agreed! Particularly those eagerly-awaited Fallschirmjaeger!

Only film I can remember was with James Coburn playing an Irish Republican caught up in the Mexican revolution. Something like Fistful of Dynamite I think?

Antioch (Bob)

I used to think all the dynamite shown in the revolution films was hollywood fiction. Then i read about the First Battle of Ciudad Juárez.... the federalists had ringed the town...concentric lines, supported machine guns etc...  seems the revolutionaries used dynamite to blow holes in the walls of connected buildings & bypassed a lot of the defences. Which also is a surprises as here i thought the Canadians had first used it in Italy during house to house fighting.

Leran something new every day.

Must not miss this one - I can think of several good reasons for watching it.
