Here's a new video AAR from last weekend's solo Square Bashing game of the 1st July 1916 attack on Serre, Beaumont-Hamel and Thiepval. I hope you enjoy the video, if so, please subscribe to the channel!:

That's another nice-looking table!

I'm glad to see your soft dice-rolling tray in use. Stewart always gives me grief with mine, and thinks it would work better as a hat...

Keep up the good work!

Cheers buddy! if you're interested, the trenches came from Early War Miniatures. They are excellent pieces of terrain.

I bought the tray recently, and it has been a god-send tbh. Especially in a game like SB where there is a lot of dice being rolled. Some of my mates are clumsy and we end up with dice all over the board and the floor... This just keeps them in one place.

Colonel Kilgore

Thanks Alex. I invested in the Ironclad trench system, which is also very nice. So nice that I may even get around to painting it all up one day :-[

I have such "soft" dice trays for both land and sea games. However, I often forget to roll the dice in the tray, which ends up being used for storage rather than rolling, more often than not  ::)

Alex,
Your 1st day scenario is what inspired me to do it at the Weymouth Weekender a few years ago. There is a clip of it somewhere on YouTube with the late great Rob Roriston in command. I think I expanded my version to 6 feet wide with a double trench line but kept the focus on Serre, Beaumont Hamel and Theipval. The British only managed to reach the trench line at Beaumont Hamel but couldn't consolidate their gains and were eventually beaten back. Great memories.

Hi Sean, thanks for that, that's made me very happy to hear! I'm glad to have inspired someone. I'll have a look on Youtube and see if I can find the video. As you know, we played this a few years ago and the British made no headway at all, so I wasn't expecting a victory in this game either. I was very surprised by the outcome.

Ill find the lonk when i get home from work and put it up.

For reference, Serre is nearest to the camera, followed by Beaumont Hamel, the Hawthorne crater and Thiepval in the distance, with Thiepval wood in the far right corner.

That looks excellent and you've got yourself a new subscriber.

I like the look of the board, the right mix of green and mud.

;D I dont post much up on that channel. I have a smaller channel under the name of Billy goat but not done anything on it this year. Time is not a friend of mine.

Thanks for the new vid to watch Alex.  I really like how you position your camera and your narrative.   It makes the battle so easy to follow.

Thanks as well Alex for posting..... really enjoyed it.
