SMG range

I seem to remember that SMG are very effective at 1 square range but can fire as rifles at 2 or 3 squares range. When I looked in the current edition of the rules I couldn't see this. Am I getting confused with a previous edition or have I imagined the whole thing?

Are you perhaps thinking of Assault Rifles rather than SMGs?

Good memory John

Long time ago the SMG could shoot into square 2.
Problem is that some SMGs like the Russian ones had a good range, but others like the sten were pretty useless.  Thus the 1 square range of 60m seemed fine. It makes players use SMGs historically(?)
