Casualty Removal

In the rules (pg 97 of the PDF), it says, "Casualties can also be removed by a platoon commander motivating the square they are in (regardless of which unit they belong to)."

Is 'they' referring to the PC or to the casualty markers?

Since it says "...the square they are in..." I am assuming it is referencing the PC, as I would think it would say, "...a square they are in..." if it was referencing the casualty markers, where 'they' might not be in the same square as the PC.

Thanks,

It is referring to the Square the Casualties are in. What it is referencing is the Square may contain only your own sides casualties, not just your own Platoons. So in my case ( I am usually British) it might have casualties from my Infantry platoon, my HMG platoon and my engineers, say for example 2,2 and 1 equalling 5 casualties (All British). Motivating "That" square 3 squares away , throw a 4. Yes. AP 6 Yes. 6 goes at removing 5 casualties, i am successful at say 4 casualties, now I will look at what platoons, are more  needed at keeping off the Moral threshold. Then distribute as required.
Hopefully that explains it ??

Yes, Smiley Miley 66, that does clear it up. It's a bit weird that I could not comprehend that when I read it, no matter how many times I read it, but after reading what you wrote and going back to the rules, it is like, "How could I have read it wrong from the start? It says it right there!"

So strange how just a slight re-write can clear something up, so thank you!

Don't worry. We find that even years after playing a game and reading the rules, after playing the game, can actually mean something different to what you thought was happening.
Lesson learned. Read the rules, play the game then re read the rules. Do this several times.
I would say come and join us in Poole in a couple of weeks time. But you live in the US. Could be a problem.

Yep, need to play it now that I have read through it, either solo or see if I can find someone who has it that wants to try playing it asynchronously via something like Roll20 (where I learned and played a few games of Chain of Command)

Wish I could, only ever been to Germany.
