Odd poses for WW2 wargame figures

I see several makers  produce motorcycles and their crews in what i find to be in odd poses.
Shooting from a motorcycle would be mostly ineffective due to the platform being too bumpy. It would also open the shooter up to being vulnerable in return fire.  A motorcycle has a tank of petrol (all motorcycles in WW2 are petrol?)in a very vulnerable position.
i would suggest that upon dismounting , the riders find a prone position  nearby where the motorcycle does not "flag" their position.

Better still, get off at some distance and advance on foot. If engaged by a surprise attack, then  withdraw and  dismount.

This does link with my concern, when folk assume that "bicycle mounted" ,means that soldiers go into battle on their bicycles.
I do suppose that infantry using train transports would attack whilst mounted on the train. Standing on the roof for a better field of fire?

Of course some of the above will not apply to poorly led troops or poorly trained troops. Thinking of some of the poor soviet footsloggers. Also there are those fanatics who will tie themselves up in a  tree, knowing their escape route is compromised.

Also, the German tank commanders on box fronts who are pointing to an enemy tank some 20 yards away . Assumedly saying"I think I can see an enemy tank at 20yards distance. Can you see me pointing?" to which the gunner might reply "Well we are already dead then , stupid".

I think it has always been so.

There was the old Airfix paratrooper busily shooting up at his mates still floating down, and the Britains' Japanese infantryman doing some kind of weird overhead bayonet thrust while leaving his body exposed. And various others - I think Airfix scores pretty highly on this across a number of periods and box sets.

Personally, I prefer well-researched figures in realistic battlefield dress and poses. Now, I wonder where I can find some of those in 15mm...?  :)

Yes Simon. i spend hours on the back lawn in my underpants testing out poses. Now that is proper research!

You should get Nigel and Mike to pose for you. Might be a bit weird though...
