Miles and I had another greta PBI game. This time I knew the rules a bit better.
The game was very similar to the previous one. Mies had British 1943 and I had US airborne 1944.

Once again the US were attacking but with only a 2 point recce advantage.
The scenery was similar too in that it had a lot of woods and buildings. US airborne really likes lots of cover.
Some brutal assaults with wipe outs being frequent.
Hit Miles' PIAT man about 6 times. He would not die.
Also a used  tanks to attack mIles' tank hunter. Could not kill him either.
Hit Miles' British platoon with 4 squares of H.E.  and they all spun off into different (empty) squares.
My US force of two platoons and two tank pairs was too thinly spread. I needed more infantry on the ground.

A long game (8 turns). But the game went to and fro. The game was exciting all the way through, wth no "give up, we know the result".  this meant the game was enjoyable for both players. Added to this, there were no mobile phone interruptions, given with the attendance of about 35 gamers in total (there was a fantasy competition going on too). So well done the fantasy competitors too.  Appreciated.  Well done Entoyment for the facilities and atmosphere.

Observations
Get those objectives! The defender (Miles) ended up with two and the attacker (me ) got one. I dod have a second but lost it (careless).
Get your tanks into action at long range and use the "pair re-roll" to ensure multiple shots.

A great game with Miles. Enjoyed the experience. Made better by the use of grids.

Had a chat with Miles and I am on the definite list for PBI day. I intend to bring Japanese because of the powerful armour(?)

Here is a couple shots of the game. The well placed H E strike from Martin, to miss all my Occupied Squares I think was very well done.
A good game and from my point of view lucky rolling 4 ones in a row for the countdown clock, saved the day for me

The company commander has gone on an "artillery mission" course.

Colonel Kilgore

Nice-looking game and a nice write-up - thanks chaps!

Yep important for Martin to keep his hand in in the other periods.

Reminds how good his older games are!!!

Helpful photos Miles.
The Tablescape explosions look brilliant.

Leslie BT

Are the explosions a special commission or just the normal tress repainted into explosions?

They do look very good.

I believe that Miles got them specially done by tablescape (?) a couple pf years ago?
