Anyone read this book yet?
I usually find his books very enjoyable . I enjoy his anecdotes too. The fall of Berlin book mentioned Russian infantry encountering a milk man on his round. Being front line troops they let hom cary on. Apparently the following waves of non front line troops were a horror.

not yet its only been out recently.

Getting an autograph copy for fathers day

Colonel Kilgore

Wow - nice one Stewart!

By the way, the Amazon price (for the hardback: softback not out yet) has recently dropped to £12.00. Albeit without the autograph, of course!

spoiler alert - the germans win (sorry I hate to give away the ending of a book)

Hi, TIK is planning to issue a review of this book on Monday on his channel.

https://www.youtube.com/user/TheImperatorKnight/videos

He took down the original review...

Anyway, his channel a lot of info on Arnhem and the Eastern Front, well worth a watch; recommended.

I want to read this as I want to find out what happened to Monty - he doesn't seem to have involved himself in this battle

Lee-Malory was useless in the battle of Britain and he proved to be useless at Arhnem. -

it was a cock up of a battle and we got what we deserved.

- It never snows in September is a good one, from the geman point of view , it lays great stress on our airborne were beaten by german second line troops.

Mike Tanner

Thanks for posting. That was a very interesting video.

Peterloo

has anyone played the SPI Arhnem game? - I have it and would like to run it as a PBI campaign (have run Bastogne, 1st alamein, invasion of Malta, Guadacanal)

I think it would be very hard actually keeping to the historical script.

Big Mike

I am saving my autographed copy for the end of summer! If the book is as good as AB's talk at the Chlake Valley History Festival it is a stonker. The best line from the fiasco was from the King of the Netherlands who, on hearing that Monty announced that Market Garden was 90% successful, said his country could not afford another of Monty's successes.

Ben and I are off to do a tour of Arnhem at the end of the month, so am going to try and read the book before setting off.

Have a good trip Wardy, hope Ben enjoys it to.

If your at a loose end in Normandy (Manche) your welcome to visit.

Wardy64

Thanks Les, we are on a Battlefield Tour trip so we cannot deviate. Normandy next year on our own so that would be a great offer.
