I suggest Miles
As the lead, pick a battle, draw a map of the battle split into 3 for the games table, scale down the forces for manageable size for the table top and see who can provide what.

I would suggest you have a year, by the time we can come out and play we have Simon's Crete game in September.

Don't forget that September 2020 is just the playtest for the real Crete day in May 2021 :)

I am looking at the battles, but anyone who has a sensible suggestion ?
Martin your history of Civil War is quite good ?
Pick a battle we might be able to break down and do 3 tables worth at Entoyment?

Resurrecting this one as it was a great idea and deserves consideration if we come out of lockdown.

Gettysburg is a good idea. However it was fought over 3 days with distinct phases in the historical battle. I'm not sure how we could do it, other than going completely away from the history.

Three tables would fit the terrain of the 2nd day well enough.

Table 1. Culps and Cemetary Hill
Table 2. Cemetary Ridge
Table 3. The Round tops.

However, historically Cemetary Ridge was quiet throughout the 2nd day and nothing decisive happened on Culps or Cemetary Hill.

If you do all 3 days, there's not really a way to divide day 1 into 3 segments, same for day 3 and Picketts charge.

I think we need an ideas person on board.

Your idea of doing Gettysburg is probably the most attractive to non civil war players Miles. Any other battle would not be that well known.
Second most well known would be Antietam or Bull run.

With all those Indians being gathered for the WWW  little big horn could be done also.

If Crete is the big battle for 2021 you may run out of puff to do an additional big event?

my suggestions

compress each day down to a 2 1/2 hour playing time.

Terrain may have to change on the 3 tables as the battle progresses towards the ridge/town and troops arrive

give players an Historical command with list of what elements were available each day and historical area to set up but allow the player to set up his own units with that area.

Some years ago we played GB on a 12 by 5 table using Fire and Fury.  The army and unit sizes are easily transferable to PPig rules.  A 15 foot long table would have worked better but we found that by playing day 1 on a 6 by 5 area and then adding the additional table next day to represent the Union fall back positions worked fine. In a re write of history, Pickett's division did well charging up Cemetery Hill avoiding the long entrenched ridge. Regards Alan
