The problem is we have so many pre versions of the rules floating about, it's hard trying to look up what we have correctly.
The main reason a lot of people haven't used or thought of using  AA guns over normal guns were they are a bit pants !
When you mentioned that it would be nice to see these vehicles and guns on the table ? I just pointed out why people don't consider them ?
I do know that the British (also the Americans and other Allies)found uses for their AA guns after they became mainly redundant after DDay due to the effectiveness of the Allied Airforce was to use them in support of their ground assaults, firing over the battlefields to generally keep the enemy heads down ?
Remember a lot of these systems had been made mobile on the back of a lot of trucks etc, as well as tanks, and A/cars. A lot of Captured guns were used in the same role too. Even the good old 88mm was used like this !
Personally I would generally use this type of weapon as an area effect weapon rather than a pinpoint weapon. Similar to Mortars and Howitzers in effect rather than an A/T type gun.

Simon, I was trying to create a new rule  to replace the existing one and make AA different (better) in effect.
The existing rule gives an AA v 4+base square, 19D6 with a re-roll per turn per AA.

The new rule suggestion would give instant pinning, 4D6 per target including tanks up to 5.  2 squares can be hit for  4AP each.
This would give a pair of AA the chance to pin down 4 squares each turn.
Still not accepted.

Well I did try John.

I think this topic is going nowhere. Shall we just leave it alone?

I realise you've been trying hard, Martin, thank you. But you're not going to please everyone all of the time!

My point was that these rules have been though some 5 years of development and testing. Tinkering with them at the last minute, to achieve something that could easily be addressed by a house rule if people want to do things differently, risks all sorts of unintended consequences.

So yes, my vote would be to leave it alone and crack on with getting the rules out, unchanged, when you are able to.

It's been an interesting conversation, and we can try all sorts of things with AA for fun, but it's fundamentally an "infantry with just a few vehicles and guns" set of rules, so I think we should keep it at that.
