Western / Re: Pony Wars - B Troop IS coming back!
August 24, 2021, 07:19:04 PM
I hope to garner some enthusiasm locally to use the Pony War rules for playing the Riel Rebellion (Canada 1885 version).

Much to my surprise Martin you have almost all the figures (allowing for head swaps).  Such a variety of characters, weapons & uniforms & civilian dress. Lasted only for a number of months but was full of everything Pony wars seems to allow for.

Looking forward to getting my copy and reading how some of the games have gone.

Thanks Gents.... As expected just one day at a time here...

Simon:  semi regular progress is still happening on the war of the Roses, though not nesc with the proposed opposition...😀.  Somene dug back 30 years & we are painting 6 mm Napoleonics (or trying to)...as other want to game again I am going along.  I may have to wait to get back to other ranges & the Mexcan revolution.

Leslie:  Sounds like he has a great career in the making....... when we can get together with a few more bodes in the back yard I think we will all be wanting a good cold brew.

Look forward to hearing more about the Crete game & all of the Ak47 games that seem to being planned & played. Some folks here seem to have been doing some great work.

Haven't been around for a while  & thought I would log in & have a peak what everyone has been up to & at oeast say Hi.

Its been a succession of things here in Western Canada getting in front of gaming...any game. Covid, no Covid, health, massive heat bubbles  (never heard of that term before) temp got up to 43-44 C here for 3-4 days followed by high 30's.... never before seen temp's (higher then Las vegas in the Desert !!!) Followed by a crazy number of forest fires. Several towns burned down (much like parts of Europe) Now we still have hundreds of fires with large evacuation zones .... Still getting more heat & very high amounts of smoke. Apperantly now Vancouver had the worst air quality in the world yesterday & today.  And now we are going back to high Delta Covid numbers.... I am convnced someone who is managing things has been rolling a succession of double ones.

(Sorry reading that almost sounds like I should be posting on the Grumbles page). In any case painting in several scales & periods & waiting for the day we can get a game in.

Hoping things go better for others & you are gettng games in regularily.  I see Martin & the crew have more new models to tempt us.  Now off to do some reading in the archives..

Terrain and Figures / Re: Table size
January 17, 2021, 05:40:47 PM
I am guessing I suffer friom an abundently large table.

In N America (or on the west coast) early tables were in the 4'x8' range...& some a bit larger. Many years ago I found a gent selling an old ping pong table...all that was still good was the 2 piece 5x9' top.... a bit of luck also having an area i can open it up for & leave it setup.  However it doesn't get much use anymore as a gaming table & has now become a "storage table".  Part of the new years resolution is to get it finally cleaned up.

Great book.... ended up with a carthaginian ancient army as my first figures.....(25mm minifigs imported  were the only figures we had access too). and the philosophy that the only good Roman was a dead one... (In the nicest possible way & strictly limited to the gaming table of course).

The new figures are really nice.  Nice work Martin.

Will be ordering some when our postal system recovers a bit from going tilt.

General discussion / WW1 Christmas Truce(s)
December 25, 2020, 07:21:30 PM
I am sure everyone has heard about the Christmas truces in the first world war. Apperantly quite a few. (As the picture in the firum header illustrates)

The CBC interviewed a Canadian veteran who was actually there at one of them. Thought you might enjoy the story & video.

Merry Christmas to all...

A quick note to wish all a Merry Christmas. 🎄🎄

And a special thanks to Martin & the other good people at PP Hq who have been keeping us so well supplied in these times.

May next year bring back freedom of movement & health so we can all get back to real in person gamming with friends & mates.

We had our pre Christmas white dusting.....though various family & friends next door in Alberta had 49-70 cm in one day. So if you are missing any I am sure they will be happy to ship....😀😀.
