Very happy to recieve my very own Fort Sumter. I've wanted one for years!

I've worked out what's what for the most part, but not sure what to do with this piece?

Fine Question Sean.

Thanks for buying the Sumter. A big piece.
that piece is the wharf that joins on to the entry gate.

Must admit it something I want to buy at some point.
Fort Jackson is another one I want to buy or make at some point?

Gosh, yes! seeing it like that does make the mouth water.

I've been making steady progress painting up Sumter. I've really enjoyed tinkering away at it, feeling no rush to get it ready for a game  just enjoying the process.

I'll probably finish it tomorrow. A bit more washing then some drybrushing should see it done.

Very good Sean

In the rules as use mine as a large fort

It will probably fall out of production next year. It costs too much to make.
There are probably enough out there now to satisfy gamers as it has been on sale for 20+ years.

That would be a shame Martin. Its a beautiful model. I would have happily paid more for it as it is for me one of those 'must have' items. But you only need one  so I imagine it's not a big seller.

Anyway  happy I have mine now!

It does look rather splendid, Sean - lovely job.

If they're going to be discontinued, I'd better get one to add to my pile of unpainted stuff (retirement project, if I ever get there...?).

Finished Sumter this morning.

Some liberal washing, drybrushing and use of some very old pigment powder and I'm fairly happy with the result!

I've recently bought the remaining ships from the Hammerin Iron range that I was missing, one of which is the Selma. You can see her alongside the Fort for scaling purposes.

Spectacular job on that Sean.
