A) a merchant ship starts with 2 levels of Sails, Men and Guns , but then reduces one of these by 1 level. Can you then recover the reduced value back to 2 by recovery dice throwing, or is the reduced start level (1) the maximum achievable?

B) Does a burnt out merchant generate any points in the victory calculation for the defender? It says it can't count as escaped or captured but is it still owned and on the table? ( I assume not but a desperate player will ask!)

C) does a ship in the arc of fire mask and prevent targets further away from being engaged?

Good to see pirate games being played Graham. I enjoy those ship games.

A. Merchants can recover up to 2 for all aspects.
B.A burnt merchant ship is lost from the game. It no longer exists in any records.
C.Yes, the arc of shooting cannot proceed beyond/after the first ship target encountered. This is because broadsides are quite scatter gun in their style.
