Game 2

NOT RFCM!

Pacific War 1879 on the ocean. I was Chile. Ade was Peru. We were using 1/2400th ships from Tumbling Dice and Dalgrehn and Columbiad rules by David Manley all provided by Ade.

Very interesting. I know nothing about the war. Pendraken do I nice range of figures for the land war aspect.

Basically this was ironclad, some with turrets smashing away at each other.

Not sure about the rules. The Peruvians were seriously outgunned. I think you could easily adapt Hammerin Iron to this war.

An interesting War that I have a few books on and 10mm (as yet unpainted) armies.

Game 3

Technically game 3 was as a bit part player in Miles and Simons Wild Geese game at the Beachhead Games Expo.

So game 4 was a game of Civil War Battles this afternoon. Sometimes it better to get out your figures and just play rather than thinking of other things to do.

As normally happens, we were rusty with the rules, but soon got going. And as normally happens one is reminded of just how good a set of rules Civil War Battle are.

I couldn't find anything for troops moving back facing the enemy. There is a retire result as part of morale, but I couldn't find anything regarding a backwards move using action points.

Because its my game and my figures, I decided to use the movement for manhandling artillery, which is 1" per AP. This worked well, and didn't seem to upset anyone.

Interestingly we used the late war western armies, which felt as though they favoured the Union as you might expect. The Union ended up defending as both players put a lot of dice into the attack roll and it ended up with a difference of one in favour of the Rebs.

We promptly forgot most of the results of the pre-game sequence. But again, it didn't spoil things.

The game finished as a big win for the Rebs played by Jim. Bob wasn't too upset though.

It is interesting, having not played the rules for a long time, how different they are to more recent RFCM rules.

A wonderful set of rules that really capture the Civil War in my eyes. We all look forward to playing again soon when we might play one of the scenarios to save some time.

Again a very nice looking game and one of my favourite (and very first) wargame periods.

Mine too, Andy. Wish I played it more.

Wel  this isn't going particularly well. 4 games so far this year. Not helped by not yet making a trip south. Hopefully this will be resolved soon.

Bob and Jim are looking forward to a game of PITS but diaries are not aligning at the moment.

Colonel Kilgore

That's terrible, Sean - even I've got 7 PP games in so far this year  ;D

Looking forward to you overtaking me rapidly  ;)
