I am going to push on with the river idea in AK.
I wanted to buy the flames of war river sections but they are nowhere. :(

Therefore, I am going to make some.
4" width. Plastic.
A small bit of wiggle. Maybe some riverbank? Brown and gloss/shiny.

Anyone else made their own rivers from scratch?

S and A do some lovely river pieces when they're back in full production.

Try "Timecast" (They also do superb 15mm buildings suitable for AK.)

I'm planning on creating some thin ply strips with a little wiggle as river bank with a small amount of modelled groundwork probably using EPS lumps and Decorators' flexible filler and a water's edge effect using Artists' Gloss Medium. They'll define the waterline which can be adjusted from the width of a ditch to a small or wide river. The main river will be something else... probably some form of flexible plastic painted.

Have you tried the Gale Force 9 website ?
That's the other games that flames of war deal with ? Including their scenery.

Hello Miles
I did try to get the battlefield in a box rivers but they do not exist in any UK shops.
I think their Malaysian supplies/workers are  erratic?

A lot of there goods are on line only. By the looks of it the Rivers are part of that list.
Hence why I looked it up on the Gale Force Nine website.
It's there way of making money as they don't suffer the commission from the shop etc.

Black Magic Craft on YouTube has a few tutorials for making rivers/roads/mats/cobblestone from recycled tire rubber mats available on the roll at Home Depot stores here in Canada. Assuming you could find same at B&Q or other DIY store.

Simple techniques with good looking results. His videos on making buildings from XPS foam are excellent as well.
Hope this helps/inspires.

That is great.
Thank you

Those videos are wonderful. Thanks for sharing. Groan I've just started trying to make some stream sections using MDF which I've been undercoating heavily, these can now go in the bin. I guess the trick here is trying to source the various suitable silicon caulks here in the UK. There does seem to be a bewildering variety of the stuff. I hope to visit Wickes on Wednesday I'll have a look out.

and as a help to us all, if you, or anyone else, finds a UK equivelant can you post the product names (and shop names if a chain) here because the end results seem very good.

That is a great shop, Martin.

Les introduced me to it for its "15mm credible" flock, which I use now.
