OK. It seems that the colours are not bright enough to see.
I can work on that too. The palette choice is reduced by darker colours giving less contrast to the text.
I might number all the boxes on the battle map 1-30 and then add a section which lists which boxes are for army A and which boxes for army B. No great problem, as the document is PDF and it will help players understand what is going on.
