I had a memorable birthday cake with chocolate fingers forming a wooden stockade and the painted (thanks Mum!) Airfix band on top.

I was a little miffed at the time that they weren't in fighting poses, but maybe I was wrong all along, having seen the recent Belgian motorcycle-mounted kettledrummers?

My mum bought me a wooden fort with the wrong defenders; Indian WW2 infantry. The suffering.

I really do like my brass bands for my ACW collection. They're by Essex and look lovely.

I really like the odd packs in the Peter Pig range such as the WW2 British having a brew. They add a lot of character to a collection.

I knew there was a good reason for building a Peter Pig Dutch army. They had some odd looking vehicles but they kicked the arse of some Fallschirmjagers in 1940. My KNIL will be in action on Thursday night against Stewart's Japanese. We'll see....
