This comes to 400pts [current Company Architect]

Veteran FMJ

CC with SMG

1st Platoon
PC rifle
6 Assault Rifles
2 MG42
3 Panzerfausts

2nd and 3rd Platoon
PC rifle
6 rifles
2 MG42
4 Panzerfausts

4th Platoon
PC rifle
3 mortars
2 rifles

Only 4 platoons is not great, but with veterans the platoons would need to be smaller to get the MMG Platoon. The list restricts you to a maximum of 3 infantry platoons and 5 platoons overall.

No points for vehicles, and the only anti tank is the panzerfausts  but there are 11 of them and can be very useful.

Around 120 figures all in, including lots of dead. If I'm being pedantic (and I usually am...), I'll need the later war FJ figures where possible.

Comments, ideas, suggestions or criticism  welcome!

Sean,
If you're primarily building this force for Monte Cassino, I'd go Average. And drop the Panzerfausts.
The Germans are on the defensive and want to pick off their opponents as the latter grind their way up the hillside.
We didn't get any further at Colours as we were all dead by then!

Did you have a lot of smoke available to cover your moves?
Those medium mortars can provide on table smoke.

That force will be nice to paint Sean.
If you attack then you will regain one of the platoons too.

Being veteran it can launch successful assaults but not too many of them.

This army can win.

As per the list  FJ have to be veteran.

The Germans did suffer but then I got some good dice rolls of6-7-8 points so managed to get my forces going ?

The mortars sadly died early on...

Ah, but this is a scenario!

Actually, the FJ list is ripe for revision. Later in the war, one could argue that certain units were Average at best.

But you also killed a lot of the Germans too, who then struggled to get their reinforcements on...

This would seem to fit in with James Hollands book.

In a stroke of luck, I've just been gifted a box of plastic FJ by a friend with whom I was chatting about PBI and Cassino. Now I've not painted anything that hasn't been Peter Pig in a long time and I feel a bit guilty that I might now not need any other FJ. So to assuage the guilt I'll have to buy something else like the new shanty buildings or Toyotas when they're released!

Sean Clark

Also...drop the panzerfausts in favour of getting some MMGs?

It's not really a Scenario as such. Just a table styled on the battles of Monte Cassino area from February to May 1944 all on one table. The British are actually Commonwealth forces as they could be any of forces that had a role in the 8th Army ?
It's more a fixed scene table with 12 templates and 20 partials and 3 objectives as per rules. We still do the 36 points, as the "Defenders" might be able to get that slight advantage that they loose by the fixed templates ?
The only table only "rule" is the "very rough hill"which stops forces coming straight across the easy side of the table and going str8 into the Monastery, without suffering some sort of "penalty" for first climbing up a "Big Hill/Mountain"
Ideal is the use of FMJ, but and Germans for 1943-44 would be exceptable ?
Vehicles are not very good on this table, possibly get isolated or by passed entirely?
I do find for the Commonwealth to attack properly it's best to have them as Veterans, using the "spare" vehicle points ?
I ve tried to make it PBI as normal game friendly as one can with what is available to me with the scenarios and scenery settings. Obviously they are some "rules"  I have to follow ?

Just found these pictures showing the Castle and Monastery showing the Height difference and why I had to put in Very Rough Hill for side access to the Monastery rather than use the main road ?
Also why I put some height into the model in the first place ?

I like the concept of a very rough hill. It could be a house rule for scenario games where it's impossible to everything creating an interesting challenge.

Sean Clark

Ok I think I'll paint these plastic figures up in a quick a dirty manner for a game of Cassino.

Then I'll spend my money on Shanty buildings, Toyotas and either some more Samurai or WW2 Japanese to fight my 14th Army.
