The Sheffield event for International AK47 Day is now full.

48 hours to go and I am excited.

Six tables of games (2 Reloaded and 4 Classic). Nearly two thirds of the attendees are either completely new to AK47 or older players who haven't played for quite some time.

Just updating to say the day went ahead. No dramas. Nine games managed in all with ten attendees. Four games of Reloaded and five of Classic. Patriot Games was a really good venue and we had a quiet room to ourselves. Everyone seemed to have fun and there was a fair bit of laughter and surprise outcomes.

I'm giving the participants a couple of days to provide any further feedback and then I'll get some notes together.

I'm glad it went well, Dex, and look forward to the photo report in due course.

Here's a couple of photos from my games. They were both were played on the same table because the player who won the morning game moved tables.

In the first game, I was defending. My opponent launched two close assaults one of which failed, the second succeeded and forced my general out of the building template where  he was mown down by HMG fire from a technical. The game took over 3 hours. I lost that game.

In the second I did even worse in the 15  days to war winning only 2 days and scoring very poorly on the chart for both days 1 roll was a "2", the other wasn't much better and at the start of the game my reserves area was full. This game went much more quickly and despite my poor dice throwing when trying to get reserves to their units I repeatedly failed to move regular foot.

Despite all this my militia managed to down a helicopter and I went on to win this game by a 22 point margin.

Aerial view of the table, same for both games.

Downed helicopter.

Thanks for the report and photos, Martin von Grimsby - that sounds like a fun day.

I'm looking forward to working on the next version of the rules later this year, once PBI is put safely to bed.

My own contribution to International AK day. A solo game of classic.

Sean, well done. What a close game, it's reminded me how good a game "classic" AK47 is.

The end of turn summary worked well in presenting the game and keeping the viewer engaged.

Best wishes,
