After the sad death of Christine McVie maybe we can pay a tribute by starting some rumours??

1. A British company (no names) has bought the licence to produce AWI figures and rules based on Mel Gibson's PATRIOT film.  The licence is costing the company £8400 per year.

2. A different company has managed to get the phrase "WW2" trademarked. This will cause major disruption in the  field of making gaming miniatures. One other maker is now going to call their range "A war a bit after WW1" (AWABAWWO).

3. Some gamers are renaming countries and armies as "factions" in their games.

4. Historical research will show that Russia did not kill any Polish officers in WW2 (Source= Russia yesterday). Apparently the Polish killed themselves.

5. At last , in 2023 there will be zombie ranges featuring  AWI (Tarleton's Zombies), Crimean war (Dead, undead and dead  again) and the Zulu war (Zulu Zombie Zenith).  You can never have too many zombie games  ::) .

Goldust?

Rumours get Evereywhere these days.

Here's a rumour though...

Wargaming will be the next big thing on Channel 4 in a show similar to the Great British Bake Off. It will be presented by James Holland and Al Murray and see wargamers trying to make the hobby look cool and will probably include famous hobby people like Peter Pig talking about the number of spokes on a civil war cannon.

It will be presented by James Holland and Al Murray.....

Is Al Murray actually a wargamer, I wonder?? He was on Time Commanders, I recall, and he seemed to know what he was talking about ....so when I was lucky enough to see him record a show at a TV studio, I asked him if he was a wargamer by any chance, but he dodged the question... (secret politician, perhaps...🙃)

There is of course a famous BBC current affairs presenter who has an alias for his rules authorship, but oddly not his military history. Clearly wargames are an interest too far if you wish to be taken seriously.....
Derek Guyler was famously a member of the Society of Ancients and had a collection of Romans; Peter Cushing was a collector of military figures and occasional wargamer it emerges.
Do we know of any other celebrity wargamers? I don't mean those who are "celebrities" within the hobby itself (sorry Martin! ☺)

Edward Woodward was a warmer and actually got a war-game into a scene on one of his programmes.
Mark Urban is a BBC presenter and military historian but I don't know if he war-games.

Leman (Andy)

With his insistence on artillery wheel accuracy is Martin to become the spokesman for wargaming.

I hate it when auto-carrot corrects wargamer to warmer.

Callan was playing a Crimean War game as a way of giving two fingers to a Russian spy.

Leman (Andy)

I heard that Games Workshop is to produce an historical range in 12.6mm made of nickel. The first army, apparently, will be the much in demand Nepalese army of the 1360s.

Incidentally, who on earth is Christine McVie? I tend not to watch British news these days - far too depressing.
