Martin Smith

...retired, so whenever, wherever for me.

Leslie BT

Retired so always from home between jobs!

I wonder if there is anyone under 30 on this site. I was wargaming (i.e. not playing with model faeries and robots) at 13. Does that still happen?

Ben who is 20 at Uni and working part time at the Motor Museum.

Huzzah! Someone to carry the torch.

Just tell him to wait. The demographics of gamers suggests that in (regrettably) just a few years, "youngsters" will each be able to each inherit the armies of multiple gamers. Martin may know more exactly but I suspect that wargames as a hobby are growing in breadth (same players, more periods) rather than depth, (same periods, more players.)

He has already inherited my hoard.

Moggy

I admit to having a Christmas Robot HOTT army!

The toys keep us all young at heart! I must get myself a HotT army Derek. I'm sure I've got goblins somewhere.

Your nephew runs a very successful and well attended school wargames club. A fair bit of warhammer, Star Wars etc but also WW2 planes and boats and they have even played skirmish 'dark ages'

Indeed he does, although the dreaded faeries and robots still feature. Hopefully they will mature into those who like a lot more human history in the mix. I have to put my hand up and admit to some of Leonardo's theoretical (thus fantasy) machines making the occasional appearance in my Italian Wars games.
