Do markers such as ‘winning the fight’ travel ?

Markers such as 'winning the fight' are awarded to a single unit not the whole square they are in.
If a unit that has a marker moves to a different square do its markers travel with it ?
Or do the markers remain in the square where they were awarded ?

They move with the unit to which they are awarded.

That's how we've been playing it. I wanted to check though that we weren't misinterpreting things.
