I've heard or read about some people using acrylic medium whilst painting figures. Does anyone on here use them? I sometimes use a flow enhancer to thin my paints which is very effective, especially for some of the thicker consistency paints and too eek out older paints when they start to dry out. However i have never used acrylic medium. Am I missing something? Please let me know your experiences.

John,

I used to use acrylic medium a lot. It was somehow less runny than water and seemed to work better.

However, I've now largely stopped using it, preferring a small dose of flow enhancer. Part of the reason for my thinning in the first place was to get the paint to flow better - flow enhancer does a better job without overly diluting the colour in my experience.

I use the Citadel medium which has worked well for me, especially when using Green Stuff paints.

The Citadel Lahmian Medium is a miracle product. But it's not cheap!

Just go to the art shop and buy Matt Acrylic Medium.  Its less money than GW products and is the same.

At the moment I am using 'Pebeo' branded and this needs thinning down by about half as well.

I just mix it in with my colours.

I've used it to make washes, seal decals and fixing static grass do find it very useful.
