I am starting work on a more expansive pre game for CK.
It will be an option for those(and their opponent)  who know the game well enough and are decisive enough to carry it out.

Here are most of the previous "bigger" pre games.
Any you particularly like or dislike??

1. ROF 1, BB1, samurai, CWB, AK47= longer story book pre game.
2. ROF 2, Longships= Moving around a table of appropriate army attributes.
3.BB2. Scenario parts applied after army deployment and applied instantly.
4. Hey you in the Jail= Off table campaign simultaneous to on table play. Units coming and going etc.
5. Pieces of Eight= scenario implemented once attacker/defender decided.
6. PITS= choose mission
7.Western= hidden objectives/aims

I've played most of these, and enjoyed all that I have.

Some are probably more suitable for CK: I'd suggest numbers 2, 3 and 5 are the best candidates?

Of course, we know you're likely to go off and come up with something quite novel for CK anyway, Martin  ;)

All pre games are good fun so I'm sure whatever you decide will be just as fun

CWB and ROF1 are my favourites, but perhaps you want something a bit different for CK to make it unique.

I think a pre battle would need a lot of testing.
It could be tested multiple times  without actually fighting  the  battle that follows.
Hopefully all the members here could  give it a go so that the group knowledge is all brought in?
Like most new RFCM pre battle systems the early versions change a lot. Then later versions just change a little bit.

Who is  prepared to cross the Rubicon?
You might find it interesting to see how it develops?(possibly not)

Be warned that your idea might (what do you mean "might"?) be better than mine, but I have hubris on my side.

I'm up for it, Martin, and can rope in some small people to help (they can be good at working out how to "game" any system).

And I'm already resigned to my far superior ideas being rejected  ;) :D ;D

The next Prime Minster the way it's going !
Lol
Sounds like a plan Martin, especially with the different mixes of nations you now have in the game.
You need a "story" behind how some of these Warring nations clashed.

The pre-game I really enjoyed was the PP Lincoln's War 1998 rules. Here there was an off table whole game map with maneuverings off the table. I thought it gave a very historical 'To the sound of the guns' feel to many of the Civil war battles, as players rushed their brigades to the action.
