Real life has got in the way of any modelling or painting for the last couple of months, so I'm celebrating my little win of the weekend when I finally finished off some troop carriers for AK47 that I'd started quite a while ago:

The fabric folds just did themselves (base coat / wash / drybrush), although I wish now I'd spent a bit more time cleaning things up a bit first. I have a couple more to go which I'm hoping will be finished a little more slickly.

The bases had 3 different colours (2 dry-brushes) and I was much happier with them than the single-colour dust weathering on the vehicles, with which I was a little heavy-handed in places. Again - maybe more patience next time around!

A Melee of Mogs? They look fab, Simon.
As Leman says, the drybrushing technique has really brought out the tyre treads and tarp wrinkles.
Do you base your veehickles to match the model size or is there an agreed size you use? I've seen AK pics with based and sans based vehicles. I can't believe all types would fit a std size comfortably given different wheelbases etc. I sometimes have to stretch my bases to the nearest 10mm. I'm not sure a 'fat bottomed girl' like a T-55 would fit on anything!

I base my vehicles to aid handling, stay in the storage box (which I line with magnetic sheet, and stick steel sheet to the underside of the vehicle bases) and to stop them fighting each other when they're inside said boxes!

No standard base size (as you say, the vehicles themselves vary considerably in footprint). I aim for 5mm clear of the model on all 4 edges, which seems to do the job.

I do much the same but the other way round. Since I typically use biscuit tins for storage I put thin magnetic sheet on the base (culled from L plates acquired cheaply online) It means I can have magnetic basing on the whole underside for greater security. I try and standardise the width at 30 or 40mm to conform to my DBA aesthetic but the length is a moveable feast...

All good details to know since I'm starting my AK project backwards with vehicles first. My hangup with 40mm width bases is from interchangeable units for DB* games. I'm glad it has come in handy... I hope I can do justice to my Mogs when they arrive...
