What was the first unit of 15mm troops you  constructed?

Mine was in in 1973(?)
In Poole high street a model shop had received a large amount of samples from Peter Laing.
They were a Marlburians.
I painted them up in my enamels paint scheme.
They were very small figures but well cast. Using "Fry's tandem KA" metal.

2nd unit were Peter Laing Macedonian phalangites with florist wire  pikes.
I tried a black undercoat.

I think I melted down a lot of my Peter Laing.

Colonel Kilgore

Mine were Mike's Models ECW forces, sometime in the '80s. Small but lots of detail compared with the 25mm Prince August figures I'd previously been home-casting.

Mine were the original Mike's Models when they were first produced. I bought some late 1st century Imperial Roman legionaries and auxiliaries. They were the first step on from the early Minifig strips and Peter Laing. It didn't take long for Mike's Models to up their game with their Renaissance range (much more detail and more realistic anatomy and poses). Then the competition started and Mike's Models were bought out by Essex.

Spartacus

Mike`s Models Very early 80s---Sassanid Persians.

Still got them.

Essex miniatures - English civil war. Early 90s I think.

They were either Tabletop Games Napoleonics or Warrior ACW. I still like the sculpts of both figures. Nostalgia kicking in.

Both are still in production too, 35 years later which isn't bad.

Mikes Models and Peter Laing North West Frontier were mine when I was in Secondary school, closely followed by Tabletop Games Sci-Fi for Laserburn rules. I started to raise a 15mm Harad army using Tabletop arab but then discovered Donnington minis at the Triples and began raising an Anglo-Norman army post Uni.

Sean, Warrior ACW are nice figures. I have quite a number in my current CWB armies.

I really liked the table top figures. Always fancied a  Blemye army with their elephants etc

Mine were Minifigs Napoleonic Prussians , purchased from the Guardroom in Dunstable . Must've been about 1985 . Alex

Like Martin have to admit to Mid 70's sometime. Was Essex 15mm Saxon army.  Looked ok to me at the time but think it was probably pretty messy back then. Then along came WRG 7th edition and that was one of the many armies that was rendered almost useless.

Have no idea where they are now though.

I remember the Guardroom. Always had a big advert in the magazine.  Lots and lots of boxed armies.
