Got mine at hobbycraft---16 years ago. They were much cheaper then Andy!

I also use the sticky rubber sheets cut into RUB tray squares to keep the bases from moving about. Don't put unbased metal models directly onto it as it will stick and leave a nasty residue. I use bubblewrap for these instead.

Found that with my ACW Union Fleet !

Thanks for some super ideas, plenty to be going on with - went yesterday and picked a couple up (and some rubber waffle non-slip matting); I've joined the Hobbycraft club and they offer a 15% discount coupon so suspect may go and get some more when that arrives too. V much appreciated!

I quite often get a voucher by email. Shame the wife keeps hijacking them for more wool!

Ibought some 4ltr boxes from Viking over here. Bit pricey, but they did contain two layers of squared inserts.

What would be really useful is some foam trays which actually fit in the useful boxes. I seem to remember seeing this company's trays which were fitted in a box at a show. Sorry only depth is given, just wondering which would be useful for piggy purposes?Any body using them?

SHQ used to do just this for the 4l boxes. They were pre-cut into small squares that you pluck out to create the rough shape necessary to fit your models into.

I bought a bunch when I visited their workshops, but have only every used one (which helped my sailing ships survive the combined rigours of the UK and Spanish postal services.

Maybe I can do you a deal, Martyn  ;)

Commission Figurines do mdf tray inserts for 9l and 4l RUB. They make variable depths and they stack on each other. They are on Facebook.

Those trays do look nice. May buy a couple for the larger stuff to go in at the bottom of the box.

Good spot John

Thanks @ Martyn S for that link. Now I know where to get the rest of my measuring sticks  ;D

I just by the commission figurines inserts and then make lids out of artist card. Works out a lot cheaper than buying RUBs and they stack very nicely and can be clearly labelled on the homemade lids
