Todays game was a draw.  31 points attacker, 32 Defender.

Defenders army, average.

Attackers army, raw, but if we had used army F average with 4 mounted there are not enough extras.

Defenders edge nearest the camera.

Starting loses were 14-27. game lasted for 7 turns and we were starting to run out of figures.

Good game though.

Glad to hear your game went well, Les.

Were there any rule queries or issues, or do they seem pretty much there now?

Hi Les
What do the starting loses numbers mean?

Great to see your game Les.
The Mexican "look" is very definitely there.

I agree that raw armies can run out of the main additions.
Don't forget that you can spend extra single points on extra single bases.
e.g if a player has 5 extra points he can buy 5 extra single bases.

e.g for US army (raw)
All mounted
5 mounted units (40 bases)
2 guns =2
6 Mounted bases=2
Another 4 mounted bases=1
Gun + 4 mounted= 2
Singles extra bases x6=6

This gives 60 mounted bases (including officers) and 3 field guns.
A lot of figures.

Big Mike used a "big unit" idea and made a cavalry unit 16 bases. It never got broken or beaten in the game.

On another point
I am reducing the  defender depletions a little. i.e extra 2D6 on depletions is now extra 1D6 etc...

The rules are also waiting for the buildings to be made in order to feature those  in the photos.

The numbers 31 and 32 were the points at the end of the game. We both lost officers but no generals.

Ralph  the attacker remembered his extra 3's for the piggy chase and it made him more cautious in the additional rolls. Only 3 or 4 dice each time before halting.
My losses as depletions were only 12 foot bases.  The fact that I used average and Ralph raw did help with the shooting dice.

I had not understood that you could take the one pointed bases so many times!!

The attacker had 57 bases with 4 guns.  In the end Ralph took one foot unit.

The extra foot officer bases, were for the units when they dismounted. As the units just started the game with a mounted officer base to represent their mounted status.

Great looking figures and table
Hope the game went well

Yes we  had a good game, took a little longer than usual as we were checking the rules carefully.

What does this mean Les? It doesn't fit with you saying you lost 12 bases?

When you say Ralph 'took' one unit, do you mean he destroyed one of your units? Or something else?

Leslie BT

14-27 was the level for depletions. When the depletions were rolled I lost 12 bases from my army.

We played 7 turns on the countdown.

At the game end we were running out of figures.

In the picture, ralph had 4 mounted units and one foot unit in his army before extras.

Les, have you found attacker or defender wining most games?

Stewart

Leslie BT

The last few games have had very narrow margins, If the defender just sit and waits he has usually won but if the defender uses Martins tactics attack best form of defence is attacker, the attacker usually wins.  But all our games have been within 10-20 points.

martin goddard

The best form of defence is surrender?

I cannot keep my men still. They get all jittery.

martin ???

Sean Clark

I am very much of Goddardian school of tactics. Forget Clauswitz, its attack attack attack. Especially when defending. The opponent will never expect it.

martin goddard

It was Rommel who said victory lies in carrying out the non-obvious.
I expect he said it in German though?
Unless he was writing for wargamers?
