Gaming in the toy shop certainly does compete well with gaming in a museum!!

Chris,

We can have a rematch at CWB or failing that the Piggie weekender.

In hope to pop into Entoyment on the day as I have been told I am shopping in Poole that day. Hopefully I will be able to drop my spouse and mater in the town and pick them up later giving me an hour or two free. Perhaps I will get there in time to go to the cashless Cafe with people as I intend to have my dinner there as well.

A fine days gaming. Started with eggs bacon and sausage.  Eight players. Russians, French, Germans, Italians and US.  Some games were singles and some doubles. On game in the am and the other in the pm. I learned lots about PBI.
Game 1. Chris and martin versus Peter. Peter attacked with his Germans versus the defending Russians. Not many vehicles in the game at all just 2 SDKFX 222.A lot (9) pieces of closed scbery (houses, trees etc..)
The Germans continually rolled 1s for everything. The Germans were vets and the Russians did not move much.  This resulted in a lot of light kill fire fights.
Eventually the defending Russians won. Only a 5 turn game.
The Russians were helped a lot by smoke cancelling out German LMG firing.
An amusing incident happened when Chris sent an LMG and one other base forward to delay the new German platoon. 4 square distant the LMG killed the German PC with just 2D6.

Game 2. Martin and Miles versus Chris and Stewart. Average Germans with a couple of PzIV attacking an average Russian force of 4 x 12 base platoons. Scenery was gain quite closed with lots of rough hills, buildings and woods. A central strip of open ground made it more difficult for the Germans to get into the built up area. Left hand Russian platoon shot to bits by HE from close in Pz IV. Even the AT rifle did not stop these panzers. Germans breached the Russian centre and occupied the objective.  all very bloody. Central Russian platoon broke under the [ressure. then as if by magic Miles brought on Russian platoon 3 and t got into the right hand Russian objective pronto. Once again smoke helped minimise Russian fatalities. miles' mortar base was unable to fight off 3 bases of German bad guys.
A small victory to the attacking Germans due to their capturing an objective and slaughtering a load of Russians ( 22 bases)

Lessons learned.
1. Smoke is good at closing the enemy firepower down.
2.If the opponent has a lot of firepower retreat inside the front row of scenery and fight him at closer range.
3.Rapid arrival can be really useful with bigger platoons.
4.Don't sit on the partial cover objective, just be nearby to assault and fire upon it.
5. Arrive units in corners in order to deviate up the flank.
6. Give the infantry some effective AT weapons, not the AT rifles. they are terrible.
7. Try to give the officers offensive weapons so that they can earn their place in the front row
8. roll lots of 6,s

Great to hear you all had a great day out  at Entoyment yesterday.

Is got to be a brilliant day out starting with a fry up in the cafe next door!!!!!!

Rolling lots of 1D6's will not make for a high scoring game.

Depends where you are in the arms race as to the anti-tank capabilities of your faction, sorry force.

Sounds like good games were had by all.

Sean Clark

Excellent report. Looking forward to CWB even more now. And I must pay Stewart for the weekender.

Colonel Kilgore

That's a really useful write-up Martin, thank you.

I think PBI may be the most detailed / complex of all the current RFCM rules?

I've managed to resist the temptation so far (must stay focused...).

Sounds like another fun day's gaming.

Any more from the other participants, and/or photos to share?

Why play it's fun. You will not resist?????

Anyway I digress. Thank you All for those that Did come yesterday having 2 games was fun and not too much stressed out. And I got to play, always a bonus ! Except the late start by the shop(but we will learn for the next one; and the late finish to mine and Stewart's game in the morning... but wot a game ! I enjoyed that, going after my Churchills with Loads of Panzerfaust and Panzerschreks !!!!!!!!! Ahhhhhhhh ! But realistic. The Germans are on the defensive and very hard to beat. Good game one of those that could have gone either way, to the last turn...
I think I was right never put Russian Scouts in defence???? But again another good game Stewart, Chris and Martin.
CWB in November Brekkie, game Lunch game and go home ????
