I've been very enthused by the lovely range of figures and have started on the core of my Government army. Apologies if this has been asked previously but I couldn't find the answers looking through topics - roughly how many cavalry bases will I be likely to need? I was thinking of predominantly troops in caps but thought it would be good to have some in sombreros to represent a unit of rurales as well. Guessing I'll need some foot stands for when they dismount too? Thanks in advance for your advice,

Cheers,

Toby

Hello Toby

Assuming you have two units of cavalry then you will need 26 to allow for probable additions.
Units are 8 bases strong but the 10 extra cavalry bases in additions are very cheap points wise.
If you base 2 figures per cavalry base 9although I put 3 per base) then you will  need 52 cavalry  (13 packs)
There are more government cavalry to come (hopefully) . They will be in cowboy hats.
Cavalry do look good on the table top.

hi Toby
the rules are still be written but at the moment the Government armies are allowed 1 unit of Cavalry.
one of the rebel armies is allowed up to 4 mounted units.

a unit is 1 cmnd base + 7 fighting bases.

plus there are up to 12 extra cavalry baes allowed depending on what additions to use

hope that helps

Having seen a game with all 18 bases of cavalry in 1 unit, I can say it's a marvellous sight. Don't get shot at in the open though, and get off your Horses as son as possible!

Thanks, gents, that's a big help. Looking forward to the rules being finalised and available but in the meantime working at getting a couple of forces done so info on numbers of bases is really useful.
