Yes, taken the plunge and bought the rules and an army. Just to help keep Martin the style he wishes to become accustomed to!  Always thought he was cheap (Just kidding Martin).  Should be able to bulk it up hugely with my Arabs easily enough I should think or make a seperate Army to go with.

Good on you Derek.

Perhaps we can now persuade Sean to continue the guide to AK47 that he started over one year ago.

The guide to the first two turns are a good guide as to the game.

Derek, you may find building AK47 armies addictive, just concentrate on the core units and remember you can never have enough militia.

Les,

The review of Reloaded was completed, but I lost the files for the game play through. I may try again.

Leslie BT

I am sure it will help players Sean.  Always quicker the second time!!

I have also taken the plunge this week. Ordered some 1/100 Rhodesian aircraft to start with. Reading both versions of the rules, and Im still undecided on which I will go with. They both seem to have their pros and cons

Sean Clark

I have to say I prefer Reloaded. Its a cleaner game with less ambiguity and more things going on. I really enjoyed first edition but like this one even more.

Leslie BT

Agreed Sean, Reloaded change some of the ambiguous things and made the game a bit cleaner and easier to play.

I really enjoyed the first edition and I like the second edition. I haven't played many games of the second edition and would like to pay more. It must 5 years since I last played AK47 Reloaded, I would like to play more.

Best wishes,

It is a game that needs to be played. Visiting it once every now and then tends to lead to confusion and forgotten rules. Same with any set of rules really 😂

AK was a very popular game in it's heyday.
I think it is still played a fair bit as it has no direct competitor (?).

Here are some vague generalities
Version 1 is more popular with players who enjoy the simplicity and knock about.
Version 2 is more popular with players who play a lot and want more replay value.

Version 2 was written by the same team that wrote version 1.
There were various aspects of version 1 that players who played regularly could wield to get the win.
Every change was judged to improve the game.
However rules are a matter of choice not science and long may that continue. :)

Hi Julian, it's funny that you mention being bored with Rapid Fire! I was in the same situation all those years ago when I discovered Peter Pig and AK Republic all those years ago at a Derby show in the Assembly rooms. It revitilized my wargaming and introduced me to 15mm wargaming.

I think I become obsessive form time to time, but I'm finding just painting what I feel like with no end goal is helping to calm my excitement down. My hobby is far more relaxing at the moment. Last year I painted 1,000's of 6mm figures which I'm happy with, but burnt me out a tad 🤣

Inspired by the resurgence in AK47 Republic I've had a rummage and sorted into militia, regular, and professional types all my figures still in packets plus heavy weapons and filled an A4 storage box. I've another A4 box full of assorted Majorette, Maisto and Matchbox trucks of various eras ready for conversion and repainting.

I really must pull my finger out and get my armies back up to standard for some games using Reloaded.

Thank you guys and best wishes,
Martin Buck

I think once we are back on a proper Wargames footing, we will have to sort out a gaming day or two for AK47. Might inspire me to finish off my Arab force?
