I wanted to say how much I've been enjoying Sean's latest YouTube videos.

They are on the longish side, but make quite a change from the shorter high-octane "hi guys - wham bam boom" videos from others.

It's been nice sitting down to do some painting of an evening and listen to Sean gently describing his own painting approaches, as well as various reminiscences and thoughts about the hobby in general.

I look forward to more of the same, including how Sean gets on with Coat d'Arms paint (which I still user certain colours, although I've largely gone over to Vallejo). I always fish out some pigment and mix on the palette, rather than trying to stir in the bottle, which I have found in the past is a good way to jam up the lid and prevent it from sealing. I have toyed with the idea, but not yet put it into practice, of decanting the contents into a "dropper" bottle, so will be interested in what Sean ends up doing.

I can't quite bring myself to try the "impressionist" style of figure painting, but when I realised that I'd done just one colour (albeit being distracted by watching the video at the same time) on a batch of figures in the same time that Mr Goat had completed all colours on multiple bases, the advantages of speed painting really hit home!

Thank you Simon.

A couple of the videos are a tad long. It's really just made up on the spot at the moment. However I'm thinking of coming up with a more structured format.

A once per week hour long paint and chat. Occasionally live so guests can join me, but probably mostly recorded and me rambling on.

The rest really need to be under 20 minutes I think to retain interest. So rules and figure reviews, maybe painting one figure or talking about an exciting development in the hobby.

It's just for fun really. I put a lot of effort into the podcast, lining up guests from around the world to talk to me and then editing it. The VLOG is as much for my own entertainment, as it allows me a bit more freedom.

Colonel Kilgore

It's nice to see you get your mojo back, Sean.

I should probably stop watching, as I find myself getting tempted to start painting WOTR and/or AWI, when they're not yet at the top of my list and I've promised myself to do something else for a while....

Another of Sean's prolific output is here if you enjoy or find Sean's voice soporific.

Ignore the god's own scale bit as he is getting well into 15mm.

As a soporific he's quite terrific! 😴

Best wishes,

Very good, Martin! Maybe Sean should add a "wargaming poet " feature to one of his podcasts? I could suggest the first guest  :D

I have also been enjoying Sean Youtube videos, that paint and chat live streams would be fun!
Also, a long time fan of the God's Own Scale Podcast.

Getting very cultured here.
Cause for concern?

martin :)

Colonel Kilgore

Don't worry, Martin - the admin team is on the case.

If this gets too high-brow, we may have to pull the plug on certain threads and dumb it all down a little :)

re: mixing, I use the Tamiya mixing balls (small stainless steel ball bearings) whether in Vallejo, GW, Foundry or whatever.  Works a treat with a good shake.

Brian

I use ball bearings bought on eBay, 2 per bottle. Rather cheaper than "hobby" ball bearings. I am tempted by an electronic spinny thing, but struggling to justify the cost...

The bottom end of the market is only about £20.00 Simon. And its marketed as a nail varnish mixer.
