Mark III Helmet

Painting up some late war British and thought heads with these might be a good idea. I certainly buy a few especially if the previously suggested figures in windproofs are made 😉

Hello Nigel

Those late war helmets would indeed be useful.
I will certainly put them in the "potential ideas" box.

I was issued that style when I first joined the Army in 1976.

This is the mark 3 helmet that came in in 1942/3 but not on general issue until around 1950 due to lack of steels and cash to pay for them.

It is also the one that the Airfix 'infantry combat group" wore. The officer of course only had a cap on. This is because officers are very tough and cannot be seen by enemy snipers. Also without a cap he would not be able to point.  On a slight diversion it is amusing to see on WW2 box art the commander pointing out targets (obvioulsy whlst shooting his pistol at those enemy tanks 13m away). ???.

I guess it was important to show the impressionable children targeted by those figures who's boss,  Martin?

I love the way this is going, Howard - start with the head and then add the rest of the body!  :D
