I've just unwrapped mine today too. It's big! And much more than an atlas.
I'm unqualified to critique, but the "concise history" looks very good and quite extensive. The book also includes army compositions and a useful little summary of formations and tactics, with a nod to the 30 Years War.
As mentioned by others, both the campaign and battle maps are very clear: I do like the use of flags to make clear the allegiance of the forces.
An index would have been nice, but that's me being churlish. I just need to buy another bookshelf to put this on...
