Welcome, far4ngn. Regarding your basing question, it depends on the pose. 4 figures on a 25mm x 25mm base can be a squeeze - but most of my ACW figures are 4 to a base. I used this base size because my Pendraken figures were already based like this plus 1 inch (25mm) is the base width for infantry in the Fire & Fury ACW Rules. If doing it again, I might consider 30mm x 30mm - but I won't be doing it again! Some photos of mine. Most show 4 to a base but one also shows 3 to one base (these are advancing figures and I try not to have too many weapons hanging over the edge of a base).

Thanks guys...my logon name is far4ngn, you may be wondering why its from an old 80's VW add meaning fahrvergnugen meaning driving enjoyment lol.

In 10mm I've standardised on 4 figs to 20x20 and the few 28mm I now have fit nicely onto a 40x40.  For 15mm my old rules and I mean old are all around the 20-25x25....anyway after much thinking I've started to rebase my PP figures...

My first unit of 15mm AWI on 30x30 in 4's and I'll do the same for my WWI Germans and Belgians... can someone advise if its 4 per base or 3 please.  MG's on one 30x30.

I think I might manage to remember that one :)

Paul. thank you for that, appreciated.
It makes a difference.
It is good that this forum can be a grown up type forum with names.  I will urge all forum members to have an everyday first name that we can use. I really like meeting new gamers and a name makes it more  grown up.

Pretty sure it's not that important how many figures are on a base, especially as SB is a gridded game and it is the number of bases that counts. In fact I play it in 10mm with 3 infantry on a 30 x 20 base. My 15mm figures are used in a company based game and are on 50 x 25 bases.

Having returned to the fold like some kind of sheep who lost his way, I have always been curious as to why members join a forum but never post anything.

Of course, it may be that they just want to browse and don't feel the need to contribute.  But why bother creating an account?

So, a challenge to anyone who lurks and has never posted....

1. Tell us how you got into the hobby
2. Tell us how you found this forum
3. What RFCM games do you play?

Don't phone, it's just for fun...!  :D

Hi chaps, although I'm only 17 I've gone to Wargames shows and events since I was a toddler. I never minded being dragged along by my dad and now share his hobby. I hate painting as that's what dads are for. My favourite pp game is SCW followed by PBI. I enjoy going to the gaming day and hope to see you at future events.

Well come Ben, May be when your dads fixed you could come to the games weekend November 2020.
Hope to see you in January for pbi

Welcome Ben, and good to meet you at the PBI day.

Congratulations on getting your dad to paint for you!

Welcome Ben. I think perhaps your Dad's job is now to teach you how to paint :)

I think you were planning to go to the Warfare show at the weekend, so hope to see you both there (I'll aim for first thing on the Saturday).

Crikey Simon, 3 weekends of hobby time in a row  :D

Welcome Ben; I started painting when I was 12 and I'm now 67. It's a learning curve and best started with a few figures [I am currently painting just 3 figures to finish off a unit, which is a pleasure rather than a chore, and given me a chance to try out a couple of new techniques]. What sort of wargames periods have grabbed your attention.

I know - shocking! Albeit my travel time to Warfare is minimal :)

Of course, I won't now be allowed out of the house to play toy soldiers in 2020...
