What do you want to do?
« on: August 31, 2020, 03:20:59 PM »
Quite a few of you have met my son Ben, he is an avid war gamer. On the 14th September he will be 18! (where have the years gone?)

So his mum and I asked what he would like to do for his 18th (go for a meal, do something with friends, whatever he fancied!).

His answer was: to have a full days war gaming PBI with dad (slight tear in my eye on that one).

So we will be setting up a 6x4 PBI game to run from 10 -4.

You've won at parenting I think Dave. That is the ultimate compliment to a job well done. Also testament to a great set of rules!

But what about poor old mum??  :)

Surely you should have asked me first about what young folk like.
I would start with a few ABBA albums.
Then a long re-counting of what life was like in your day.
Then a talk about "you know what" and "thingy" (the French and Saunders version is pretty accurate).
Then as father and son get out Steptoe and son, Dambusters and Minder.
Cold take Ben on a first trip on a train.
Finish it off with  recounting some stories of which you cannot quite remember the end.
Presents might include Brylcreme, Brut 33, a sleeveless jumper and maybe a bottle of Sandemans?

Job done

martin :)

Congratulations Ben.

With the friends your dad has you may have had a very different day but for Covid and the confinement.

Congratulations to you both - that really is nice.

Should I buy Ben a figure painting book for his coming of age? 😄
