A German arrived at my door

Heinz Schmidt arrived at my door today. He is a 1/6th SS grenadier for the Ardennes.  Apparenty very rare for those interested in these figures.
Best thing is that i did not order him.
Maybe just attracted to my Schloss?
I shall of course buy him a return ticket to whence he came.
I am amused.

How bizarre.  So 1/6th...does that make him around 12 inches tall?

Yes , he is action man sized.
The 1/6th figures market is very big (no pun intended) indeed.
I expect it  turns over much more money than war-games figures.
Many of the figures sell for £60 or more.
There are ranges of super heroes and porno figures too.
The quality of sculpting is fantastic.
The equipment is very collectable and valuable too.
I have invested quite a bit of money in the equipment packs. Approx £400 so far.

I believe that many of the figures are made deliberately as limited editions in order to accelerate sales. Collectors often think, "better but it now and see how the worth goes up".  Bit like beanie babies. remember those?

Well worth an internet search to see the variety of stuff.
The AB figures sculptor makes heads for these figures too.

Well, there's a whole world I never knew existed. A quick search and you can get whatever you want....

Wow you really can get almost anything in that scale. I am currently painting War of the Roses miniatures.... can get some very nice medieval figures.....however those of us who are not great figure painters would be outed quickly in 1/6 scale. I know in 15 mm I can hide a lot & at 3-4 feet they look ok......  but 1/6 scale every blemish or shakey line will stand out.

Martin I think you need not be worried.  Besides the concept of the Crete game could get really messy & bump up the space required to host the game dramatically.  (measuring stuka wingspan for that scale is about 7.5 ft...give or take an inch or two)

One of my friends collects the German and American figures.  Each figure has its own name and its equipment differs slightly.  He collects squads of them.  And their transports.  He has 1/6 scale US and German half tracks and armoured cars.  His wife goes nuts every time a new one arrives.
