Sat down to do some sculpting. Crash!
The chair broke in half; at my weight I suppose?
It is one of those posture chairs that I use for sculpting. This one had lasted 30 years.
I had to pick myself up physically and emotionally.
I feel that I cannot carry on without one of these posture chairs (eliciting sympathy).

I have ordered a new one in 'charcoal". Most exciting. It has little wheels so taht I can trundle. Possibly a you tube video in this.
That will be the  eighth one I have bought.
Some are so wrong that they do not get used.  This is because i use a seat height of 40cm, which is quite low.
I will let you all know if it arrives and allows me to carry on "the good work".

These are interesting times indeed.
Anyone else use a posture chair?
Tell us about your gaming/painting chair.

My backside hurts (not in a prison way though).

Feel your pain Martin.

I'm using an Ikea office chair - swivels, rises and falls. FJÄLLBERGET. Yes I had to look that up, and no I didn't pay that much for it. Mine's a couple of years old, and was considerably cheaper than the current version.

I have a chair that used to be my grandmother's. It is higher than usual and high backed as she was chair bound after a car accident in 1969. It is very comfortable but is showing its age these days.

Go back to the shop and complain.

Martin,

I metaphorically feel your pain. I was momentarily confused by the eight chairs that each last 30 years (thinking you're remarkably well preserved for a 240 year-old) but then I read on.

I also have an Ikea chair with wheels and lots of levers that sometimes confuse (especially when the children have been playing with them).

Mine arrived without the tube to connect seat bottom to wheelie bit, but after a 5-hour round trip to the closest store (I couldn't take it back to Bristol where I'd bought it, since we're apparently not "in catchment", nor could they have mailed it out) - there are only so many Swedish meatballs one can eat while waiting hours for someone to find the right bit in a warehouse - retrieved the missing item, and swore never to darken Ikea's doors again.

Nice chair though :)

I have a wooden chair which stands on my desk. This is now my painting/modelling work surface as I stand when I paint these days. As a result my back has become remarkably pain free. Once I move I am going to replace it with a purpose built stand at desk.

Nice to know I am not the only one using an old chair. Mine is just a regular old chair with no wheels...has got to be close to 45-50 years old.  Somehow it stuck with me from high school....and has held together.

Mine looks like this

Obviously that is just a stock photo of one like mine as I don't live in a white void.

Colonel Kilgore

Mine is so old that I can't find a picture of it online.

But I do aspire to live in a minimalist void :)

I have a nice cloth covered, high backed office chair with a lumbar support and wheels. Used to be my work chair and I kept it when they changed the chairs at work.

Radar , your chair looks like the ones used on cloud base?

I use what ever chair the dogs have left me

Matías

I use a really crappy chair that has the backrest broken, I really need to replace it soon, but they are so expensive.

No idea what you're talking about Martin, I live a very sheltered life. Apparently. Or i rarely get a look in with the TV remote.

I'm guessing sci-fi, some Gerry Anderson setting by any chance? UFO or Captain Scarlet as a guess? Both a little before my time.

I remember watching loads of sci-fi films in the 80s and 90s and playing spot the mountaineering kit being used. Sigg aluminium fuel canisters cropped up in quite a few ( including the  Alien franchise), MSR camping mugs were another staple.

All I know is it's from Ikea, it's  comfortable and I like the design. It would be even betterer if it had wheels. They now make a wheeled version, but it looks pants (all in black).
