I'm ever more intrigued by the possibilities of this. It would certainly be a period that Peter Pig could corner the market on.

Best news of the year so far.

I appreciate that in the current circumstances, that might not seem like much, but it truly is! ;D

Antioch (Bob)

Yes.....totally agree with Sean's words..

This range  birth will be a little unusual.

The figures will start coming out end of July (?)
The unusual thing is that there is no dedicated set of rules ready to go with them.Although WESTEN and SB can both be used with the range.

This will be an area of discussion I hope. At the moment Enemy PBI has the playtest placer.

Really pleased about that Martin.
I'll go with Square Bashing rules to be going on with.
That'll mean I'll need to buy a bigger quantity of figures to put the armies together!

Excellent news - I look forward to buying the figures

Sean Clark

Yes dedicated rules can wait their turn
..paint the armies, play using Square Bashing then get involved in play testing in earnest once it begins.
Sounds like  a great plan

Nick

I love it when a plan comes together.  :)

Now that IS good news, thank you Martin.

Is it too soon to have a list of packs planned for the initial launch?

Rules: SB first choice but I've also had a lot of fun adapting Osprey's 'Men Who Would Be Kings' to different theatres. Using 'Piggy standard' 30mm bases with 3 15mm figures instead of a single 28 will mean units of 36 Infantry or 16-20 cavalry, which should look impressive, with the smaller figures giving a better impression of the 'wide open spaces'.

Hello Simon
Thanks for the support.
No lists yet of packs etc.
I expect them to be grouped into regulars, non-regulars with big hats and non-regulars with smaller hats. Not sure if we get as far as Indians with bows but we shall see?
I am trying to limit expectations, because if not there will be huge lists of wants followed by condemnation for lack of following those same lists of wants.

Do rest assured that i have already done many hours of research. I have also spent a fair bit of money on  resources too. I love the enthusiasm, but must make sure it does not brim over into disappointment.
There are about 24 packs (of which about 10 are German paras)that need to be done before a single Mexican puts on his hat. Also there is BB stuff, ACW generals and that armoured car too. Plus whatever re-builds the workshop needs. e.g Rebuilt all the western wagon moulds this week.
My serene swan like progress really does disguise my little legs running like crazy underneath the surface.

First figures should appear end of July 2020.
Please keep up the chat. It will help the range to hit the ground running

Next week's quiz could be to guess the Mexican packs. I'm going for:-
1. Mexicans hat dancing
2. Mexicans with chicken fahitas
3. Mexicans with burritos
4. Mexicans with refried beans
5. Mexicans with stomach upsets (Montezuma's revenge)
6. Mexicans who look like Eli Wallach
7. Mexicans with ridiculous moustaches
8. Gringos
9. Walls with USA on one side and keep out on the other
10. Skeletons (Day of the Dead)

I'll let others do the rest.

For most of us ..its just a hobby....and our bending Martins ear...is just that.. in the end what will come will come.

I had a good chuckle out of John's guess work....except for number 5.  (More gringos sick then mexicans)

A good opportunity (down the road) for a set of mexican train crew....many armies seemed to move by train or horse...

As to guesses...allowing for 2 sides (at least)..... 5 poses ea... a few basic types to start, but beginning to sound like real work.

I always find it best to let Martin crack on with things. He normally comes up trumps.

This is from 30 years of experience. Guessing is always good. Demanding A, B and C, less so 😂
