Great stuff.

Is there a requirement for any Greek forces?

Colonel Kilgore

Sean,

I'm not aware of anyone who makes Greek forces (although I've not looked too hard). They'd also have limited reuse outside of the brief Greek and Crete campaigns.

As such, I'm working up the scenarios not to require them.

Indicative forces and table layouts will be in next week's briefing note, for discussion before we all commit too much time to making stuff. Or that's the plan (and we all know what happens to the best-laid plans...).

There is a Greek company in the PBI Architect book. You could use it in the normal PBI game if built

Irregular miniatures make 15mm WW2 Greek

Well if someone is willing to paint one up, I could readily include it in the scenario. In the past, I  have found Irregular to look nice when painted but to be a pain to clean up, although that may have changed.

Sean Clark

I was fancying doing something a bit different but happy to go with whatever you need.

In other words if you need/want a Greek company in the game I will do it  ;)

From what I can gather the Old Greek army had, Italian, French and British influences in it, cross between WW1/2 uniforms. So you could cobble together something out of PP range without to much trouble.

The Greek army had rather distinctive helmets, but I've seen a photo from Crete with them wearing a mix of stuff.

Whatever you do, Sean: I'd stick with little Piggies :)

Always Simon!

As an early Christmas present to myself, I've bought the Beevor book. It's a story I am unfamiliar with.

Colonel Kilgore

That's a good book, Sean - I'm halfway through it at the moment.

One thing I can't easily reconcile is physical differences in the maps between that and Tim Saunders' Battleground Europe book.

And anything that is currently a military installation (there's quite a lot) is blurred out by Google Maps.

But that just makes my poetic licence in the scenarios easier to justify.

Stewart 46A

Simon,
When do you plan to publish the OOB for each scenario?
There are 5 North Africa mats on order (for Stewart, Simon,Colin, Dave, Miles) if that helps your planning.

It's great to see such enthusiasm ;) - as promised, I'll get a first draft out next week.

This will include an outline of 3 scenarios - with their forces and table layout - with the aim of taking on board comments and removing any gross errors before we start allocating responsibilities for each table (as Miles has suggested, assuming people are up for that) and finalising the forces we'll each want / need to build.

I may well not rise to 5 different scenarios (and I've only booked 3 tables for September), but we could always repeat a couple of them in the shorter term.

Sounds like you will have it finished by the end of the year

Colonel Kilgore

Yep - all over by Christmas  :D
