Service Provider change - and subsequent costs

In May 2019 our ISP was bought out by a larger company. In May they did a lift an shift of all the legacy servers - which is when we had the last set of downtime

However, the new ISP is now looking get rid of the legacy contracts (of which this one is one). We are paid up til March 2020, but it's getting increasingly tight to manage the site on the current setup.

So, I am looking to cutover to a new service - with more / better space (SSD) and all that good stuff. Unfortunately this all does come at a price. I'm seeing if I get a service credit as we are paid up til March, but I do need to go on a revenue drive. I don't really like to talk specifically about money on this forum but if we could get some one off donations to cover the cost of this migration that would be really handy.

Here is the donation link https://rulesforcommonman.uk/smf/index.php?topic=523.0

There will also be a period of downtime where this is all cut across.

Thanks for doing all of this work Simon. Appreciated.  What sort of total total do we need to be "comfy".  A total of £100, £400??
I ask because I have no experience in this stuff :-[

£150 (forgot the VAT!)  would cover us til Q1 2020

Thanks Simon.  Action this day I think from me ...

actually that would cover us til Aug 2020

its not much of an increase, but it means having two contracts running in parallel for a while.

The forum might be down for a few days. I will confirm when its lining up

By way of thanks for those that have already donated, I've created a new star supporter badge

The changes have all been made now, but the coffers are empty , so please any donations to allow us to progress into 2020 !

Thank you, Simon, that's a nice thought, and I'm glad we've got over this immediate little road bump, even if we now need to start fundraising again for next year!
