Hi Neil. I have been totally won over to grids with Square Bashing and its C19th equivalent, Walter Schnaffs. I am also looking forward to the gridded version of BB as it appears to represent a WOR battle really well. However, like you I haven't really taken to ROF2 and so still play ROF1. One thing that has always puzzled me is the way that GW gamers always moaned about the rules constantly changing. Having found a version they liked, why didn't they just stick with it and ignore the GW hype?

That hype is might persuasive. Hope you only own Adidas trainers?

Leman (Andy)

Don't have any trainers at the mo - my last pair were Dunlop Green Flash  :D

Only recently got rid of my hi tech silver shadow trainers, been round the world with me,mthey were like family.

I do apologise for commenting on old threads, but I missed quite a lot during my sabbatical.

Back in the days of yore, I would say my favourite set of rules was ROF1. Especially the pre-game sequence. I was curious as to how a gridded ECW game would work.

Having then playtested it with Martin and Rob and others, I was hooked. The speed of play really appealed. It looked like what I imagined a ECW battle would look.

Games with grids do not need to look like a board game and the grids can be indicated with a dots on a mat or terrain pieces. They don't have to be exactly square either, they can be a bit wonky so long as you have the right number of squares. Just search here or elsewhere for pictures games.

Of course, squares will not be for everyone, and as has been said before, the old ROF1 is still as valid a game to play as ROF2.

Most importantly of all -  enjoy your gaming.

Sean so you'll be playing ROF2 at the WWW event, I only have one army, can you bring the other for the game? I have scenery but not enough figures.

So that's  the game first thing on Saturday morning.

Sean Clark

I'll see what I can pull from the fire.

Leslie BT

What ever you manage will great, if we are short i'll borrow some from Martin.

Sean Clark

I think I may need to.

I went back over this thread to refresh my memory of what went on. I have only now realised that Solentneil's photo is not a WWII GI.  :-[
