I will do a PBI resistance army list. Just got to finish some more research work on it. Then I will put it forward for discussion??

Here is a link to draft 1 of the rules.

Thanks Martin, a lot of work has gone into this.

Maybe too big for a   gamette?  Time will tell..

John Watson

Possibly too big, but could be offered as a complete separate game. Perhaps add a couple more scenarios such as help the airmen escape or kidnap the German general/scientist. There are quite a few typos in the draft but I appreciate that this is a first draft only. Also there seems to be some confusion in the number of things in zones. In places it says 0 to 3 in other places it says 1 to 3. Further the number of gendarmes starting changes from 3 to 2 at one point.
Overall though a splendid idea and will justify buying figures from the Partisan/Resistance section which I have always shied away from.

Wow- that is a lot of work already, Martin. And some great photos to boot.

Would you like comments posted here, or sent to you / Les directly?

Has anyone had any thoughts on the best type of figure to use for Gendarmes? Perhaps some of the WW" French Command figures with pistols?

Luckily, there are hundreds of Germans figures already to choose from!

How about comments on here initially . Then we can air any major  problems.

Hello,
I've read through it twice and now have a good grasp of the basic concepts and mechanisms. As the train doesn't interact with the figures you could use a smaller scale train e.g. "N" gauge or 1/300th (6mm).

I hope to have a play test next week due to other (travel) commitments this week.

Yes a smaller train is a good cost reducing idea. I will include some prism downloads, so that folk can stick together Toblerine shaped trains with pictures on two faces.

There are some paper trains available on the Junior General website - http://www.juniorgeneral.org/
Also the scenario could contain a variation; convoy rather than train?

martin goddard

That is a great site. Thanks for mentioning it.
It is worth a browse just to see all the interesting things hidden away.   Found a DC3!

OK, so here goes with a few queries on version 7:

- What is the minimum number of items per zone? Page 2 says zero while page 3 says one
- How many German items are there? Page 3 states that there are 8, while the German items table has a total of (3 + 2 + 1 + 1 + 4 =) 11
- Is it perhaps that there should just be a single group of 3 Gendarmes?
- It took me a while to work out the table configuration and logic: a little diagram on page 4 of the main table might be helpful?
- Resistance interrogation table: I think the maximum possible value per zone is 10, not 11 (i.e. 6 + 3 + 1)?
- Page 8: Resistance task: just to be clear: the Resistance player has to throw a 1 and 2 in his (I'm assuming a male gender for Messieurs Les "le Rouge" and Ralph Lebleu) first zone, a 3 and a 4 in his second zone and a 5 and a 6 in his third zone to win?
- Section 11: Movement: presumably another reason to move would be for the Resistance player to place explosives in an appropriate zone?
- Section 13: Morale: I think it's probably the case that Gendarmes have no defined Leader (but it might be useful to state this for the avoidance of doubt)
- Section 17: Victory points: presumably if two trains are destroyed (over the 2 zones), the Resistance player claims two completed tasks (and similarly for the Germans, if both attempts are foiled)? Also, if the Resistance attacks a train-free zone and blows up the track, they would still score for "task completed" even if they don't claim for a train?

Thanks

Updated version 8 now there.

Colonel Kilgore

Thanks, Martin. That was a quick turnaround  :)

Thank you for the input Simon.  i think it needs a play sheet + battle sheet (getting big)
