Best thing is put it to everyone. Who would play down at Entoyment on a Sunday ? May 12th ?

Colonel Kilgore

I'm afraid Sundays are difficult for me - I have other duties then...

Sean Clark

If not working I will most certaimnly be 'minstering' across a 4' square table and rolling dice! I have only late war troops....US, German and Russian so may need to borrow if it's Far East or Early war which I am happy to do.

Smiley Miley 66

Like me Sean you can adapt what you have ? Russians and late War US. Were both there.

martin goddard

Hello Sean
I can lend you Japanese, 14th army or USMC no problem.
I am hoping that it will be "tank light". 1943 cut off. There should be extra scenery  to show how very tank hostile the fighting is.
Probably  1 extra wood/jungle/plantation  per player.   Normal choices , then add 2 more woods. that would give it the jungle look.

Must admit i was hoping to use either basic Shermans and or some A/C with a British Recon force,Staghounds/Damliers and Humbers. But must do some research in late Febuary into March once Beachhead is over.

martin goddard

Why not do British 14th army Miles. that would fit in nicely.

The Sunday vote seems to be Les-yes and Stewart/Simon -No.
If we have about 8 or so events a year for RFCM then most people could attend about 4 (i guess) and be happy with that?

Thus the occasional Sunday would be fine if there were the magic 4+ players.
Both days are fine to me, because i am self employed and able to shift around my work schedule (luxury).  Many of the RFCM group are employed, so have restrictions on their availability.

With enough events we can make a satisfactory work around i feel.

Back to Les. Any other weekend in May good for you Les??  Bear in mind that after Brexit there will be no air travel, sea ferries , food or medicine.  I suspect that all borders (and barbers) will be closed too.  So book the ticket before brexit Les or buy a rubber dirigible and i will pick you up at Weymouth beach.

After scaling down Hells Highway game, and looking at things. I was wondering next year doing a Paratroopers PBI day ? It would give those who have "Paras" an outing ? Looking at the Battle of Carentan BofB style it is a relatively small battlefield well within the scope of a 4x4 table. Pegasus Bridge etc etc. The list can go on ! As well as German Paras in Earlier war situations or in Italy 1943/44 ? Battles that can't be done on the Dday or Arnhem games that maybe we should have ?
As we are thinking of doing 1940 next year German Paras in Holland or Belguim ? Mike has Dutch ?
Because these fit the PBI realms of Infantry fighting mainly static defences and defending infantry and guns, and maybe an A/C or a tank ? But not loads of tanks ?
It just a thought ???

Next year 2020.
We have two themes running through the year.
75th anniversary of 1945, the End of the War.
And a new theme for the next 5 years:  80th Anniversary of WW2 starting with 1940.
Phoney war, invasion of Norway, Holland and France. Finland being invaded by the Russians (T28/35 ???) Italians stirring the Pot in the Desert.
So start building your forces.
I ve dug out some old early Pz IV and some newer Pz III while I will have to paint up some Germans in Field Grey.
Miles

Colonel Kilgore

Thank you for kicking this off, Miles

I already have a cunning plan...

Should we start working out roughly when in the year we want to stage these two (?) events?

It might take folk a little while to build up 1940 forces (that will be the case for me), so maybe start with 1945, and then do 1940 after the summer holidays?

Simon

Stewart 46A

I have Finish, Early War Russians, French and Germans,
So ready to go.

martin goddard

I am happy to build a 1940 army.
French.
If that is the way we go.
