There's off-board "artillery". More for White Star than NVA (called in by the force commander in each case). Nothing for VC, who don't have an overall commander, but rather individual units that pop up and can disappear again when it suits them.

I should add the caveat that, while things are firming up, the current draft is still in something of a state of flux, so please don't take any of the above as gospel!

Are they covering main force VC in the rules?  Or just the local gurelia VC?
Thanks
Paul

There's no distinction as such - VC is VC. I read it as effectively being local VC, with the NVA representing the tougher troops.

I guess you could simply field Main Force VC using the NVA rules.

You won't miss them. This game works really well and is an interesting take on search and destroy missions. I was unsure how sqaures would work with Vietnam gaming. Suffice to say I have rebased all my figures, made a load of jungle and made out am order for an NVA force. I'm also going to do some special forces and Australians. And I know all the words to 'Paint it Black'......oh and paddy fields are being planned.

Yup. I'm in hook line and sinker.

Likewise - have almost done the VC, have bought more NVA and already have what I need for US grunts + ANZAC special forces. So, not just one but 2 forces per side!

The different permutations of forces allowed for in the core rules do give quite different tactical challenges in the game.

I have got figures and gamed Vietnam in 28mm but I'm a 15mm man at heart so I am going to give these rules a try.

You can still play with the same table size if your 28mm are singly based: just use one in place of each 15mm base.

This could get you into the game while you're painting up all those nice 15mm PP figures and sorting out the scenery [you'll need lots] to go with them.

Scenery is not a problem for me, I own more terrain than I need. :) :)

I have US, VC and NVA plus SF squad to lead the hill people., two each M48, M113.
I also got two PT 76 tanks for all the tank battles that took place.
And lots of villagers.

I think Martin may have / be prevailed upon to have a plan there...?

One for the Suggestions board perhaps?

I haven't done mine yet, but was planning on 2 x howitzers on 4x4 cm squares, with mortars for the second firebase battery.

What are you doing Les?

For the fire base , the 'scene' has some nice gun and mortar pits, so I have two of each with the 105's and 60mm mortars on. A pack of gun crew on 4 bases to represent the crews.
At the moment the 105's Fire like gun trucks and the mortar crews fight as 2 bases of infantry.
Both get to shoot twice per turn, don't move, take morale or count as a unit.
